Yoon: "The President is the Pride of the People... Maintain a Dignified Stance"

Meeting with Lawmakers Yoon Sang-hyun and Kim Min-jeon
Yoon: "The Democratic Party and the Left Fight Persistently as a Cartel"
Democratic Party: "Stop Inciting the Far Right with Conspiracy Theories and Insulting the People"

President Yoon Suk-yeol said on the 7th, "Isn't the president the pride of the people?" and added, "I try to maintain a (confident) posture." The opposition party criticized President Yoon, asking, "Do you not know shame?"

On the same day, Rep. Yoon Sang-hyun of the People Power Party, who visited President Yoon while he was in detention, said, "The president should still be confident as the 20th president. It's good to see such a confident appearance. Supporters often talk about sincere confidence both at the Constitutional Court and here," and reported that President Yoon responded accordingly.

Rep. Yoon met with President Yoon along with Rep. Kim Min-jeon of the People Power Party. He said, "President Yoon showed a composed demeanor," and added, "He was very concerned about how those in difficult situations are coping in this cold weather and asked me to be sure to convey his gratitude to the younger generation of citizens."

President Yoon also urged party unity. Through Rep. Yoon, he conveyed, "The Democratic Party and the left strongly form cartels and fight persistently," and "We must not be like grains of sand. I indirectly said that now is a crisis for the liberal democratic system, so maintaining a strong stance is important."

There was no discussion about an early presidential election. Rep. Yoon introduced, "President Yoon holds the attitude that everything is decided by heaven," and "There was no direct mention of an early presidential election."

Rep. Yoon said, "President Yoon will meet with some lawmakers only until early next week, and after that, he will not meet for a while."

The Democratic Party criticized President Yoon, asking if he does not know shame.

Kim Seong-hoe, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, in a written briefing regarding President Yoon's remarks about the leftist cartel, stated, "As his charges of constitutional disruption and rebellion crimes were revealed through ongoing impeachment trials and testimonies at the National Assembly hearings, he is spreading conspiracy theories that ‘all these events are plots and cartels aimed at defaming him’ to incite far-right supporters," and criticized, "By shifting responsibility onto subordinates who carried out his orders and trying to evade punishment, the public is actually ashamed of his cowardice. We hope Yoon Suk-yeol and his rebellion accomplices stop insulting the Constitutional Court and the people with obvious lies and pathetic excuses, and humbly face the judgment of the law."
