Gangwon-do Blocks Access to DeepSeek.... "Concerns Over Information Leakage to China"

Emergency Distribution of Security Guidelines
to All Departments and Cities/Counties
Regarding the Use of Generative AI

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced on the 7th that it has blocked access to the Chinese generative artificial intelligence (AI) service 'Deepseek' due to concerns over excessive collection of user information and potential leakage of sensitive information during recent AI work utilization.

Access blocking measures were implemented from an information security perspective because there is a possibility of leakage of non-public information and personal data, as well as intellectual property and copyright infringement, during the use of generative AI services (images, videos, audio, text, etc.).

Furthermore, amid recent controversies over generative AI services excessively collecting user data, the province urgently distributed security guidelines for generative AI use to all departments and city/counties. Through this, it plans to strengthen information protection measures to prevent leakage of sensitive information and unconfirmed policy materials.
