Essence of the Irish Folklore Spirit Banshee Captured in the McQueen 2025 Spring Summer Campaign
McQueen drew attention by unveiling the McQueen 2025 Spring Summer campaign by Creative Director Se?n McGirr.
Set against the backdrop of Llansteffan Castle in Carmarthenshire, Wales, this campaign depicts figures drawn by an unknown mysterious force crossing the castle, the land, and the coast. Through this imagery, the light in the Liminal Hours narrows the distance between them. Shot and directed by Glen Luchford, McQueen's 2025 Spring/Summer campaign draws on McQueen's history and the cultural roots of Irish-born Creative Director Se?n McGirr to explore the bold and unyielding spirit of the banshee, a spirit from Irish folklore.
Regarding the campaign, Se?n McGirr said, “Growing up in Ireland, the banshee was always a presence close to me in my imagination, and recently I have come to see her in a new light. The banshee is a symbol of intense self-expression, a value that resonates even more in today’s era. She symbolizes freedom and is also a force that leads to connection with others.”
This collection captures the essence of the banshee. Sleek yet twisted tailoring is delicately hand-finished with intricate details such as cobweb lace, pleated chiffon, silk crepon, and torn silk organza. Ivory, silver gray, and black are accented with yellow and orange to express a balance where strength and delicacy coexist. Accessories are designed in sculptural forms, and there are also jewelry pieces inspired by objects appearing in the legend of the banshee.
