Ulsan City Promotes Installation Support Project for Eco-Friendly Home Boilers

Reducing Air Pollutants and Fuel Costs
Applications Open from the 10th, 600,000 KRW Subsidy Per Unit

Ulsan City will officially launch the ‘2025 Residential Eco-Friendly Boiler Installation Support Project’ on February 10, aimed at replacing old home boilers for vulnerable groups with eco-friendly boilers.

‘Residential eco-friendly boilers’ refer to condensing boilers with a rated gas consumption of 70 kW or less that have received environmental label certification from the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute.

These boilers absorb and recycle the high-temperature heat emitted through exhaust gases, resulting in 12% higher energy efficiency compared to conventional boilers, and reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, a major cause of fine dust, by more than 80%, significantly lowering air pollutant emissions.

Ulsan City plans to invest 580 million KRW to initially support 971 units and will proceed with a second support project depending on the execution rate of the program.

The support targets vulnerable households in Ulsan, including ▲basic livelihood security recipients ▲near-poverty class ▲single-parent family support recipients ▲disability allowance recipients ▲multi-child families with a basic median income of 100% or less ▲and private social welfare facilities.

Notably, this year, the eligibility criteria for multi-child families within the support targets have been relaxed from 70% to 100% of the median income, and certified liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) boilers will be supported in areas without city gas supply, greatly expanding the scope of support compared to last year.

The support provides a subsidy of 600,000 KRW per boiler when replacing old general home boilers with residential eco-friendly boilers for vulnerable households.

The application period is from February 10 to early December. Detailed information can be found in the announcement posted on the websites of the respective district or county offices, and applications can be submitted online or offline after preparing the required documents.

An official from Ulsan City stated, “Eco-friendly boilers offer significant fuel cost savings due to improved thermal efficiency,” adding, “They greatly contribute to welfare benefits for energy-vulnerable groups and are expected to improve living environments by reducing air pollutants.”

Eco-friendly boilers generate condensate during the process of condensing steam to produce heat, so piping installation for condensate drainage may be required. Therefore, it is essential to inquire and confirm installation feasibility with the construction company or dealership.
