Hyundai Mobis Unveils Next-Generation Display Technology at CES 2025
Company Invests Record Amount in R&D to Secure Future Growth Engines
Showcases 65 New Mobility Technologies Likely to Be Commercialized Within 2 to 3 Years
Strengthening Cybersecurity to Enhance Reliability of Vehicle Technology
In the fiercely competitive future mobility market, Hyundai Mobis has declared its leap to become a 'global top player.' The company plans to stand tall with leading-edge technologies and product competitiveness that will lead the market.
At CES 2025 held last month in Las Vegas, USA, Hyundai Mobis unveiled its ‘Holographic Windshield Transparent Display’ technology, which utilizes the vehicle's front windshield as a transparent screen.
This technology vividly displays various content such as driving information, navigation, and music playlists necessary for vehicle use on the lower part of the front windshield, without the display devices traditionally installed on the driver’s and passenger’s seats.
To target the premium display market for vehicles, Hyundai Mobis has already secured a high-end product portfolio in the display field. These include the 'QL Display' characterized by large size, high resolution, and slimness; the 34-inch extra-large curved screen ‘Swivel (variable) Display’ that moves; and the ‘Rollable Display’ that rolls up vertically.
Hyundai Mobis invested 1.7 trillion KRW in research and development (R&D) last year alone to secure future growth engines in the mobility market, marking the largest scale ever.
As a result of steady annual investment in R&D, Hyundai Mobis has secured numerous mass-production new technologies in key areas such as electrification, electronics, safety, and lamps. The company also publicly showcased these technologies last October in the form of an 'R&D Tech Day.'
At the event, Hyundai Mobis introduced 65 mobility new technologies that are likely to be commercialized within the next 2 to 3 years. Representative examples include autonomous driving, advanced sensors, parking support systems, in-wheel motors, ultra-fast battery charging cooling technology, communication headlamps, and rear-wheel steering systems.
Additionally, Hyundai Mobis is strengthening its vehicle cybersecurity capabilities to secure reliable technology. Last year, it became the first Asian parts supplier to obtain cybersecurity certification (VCS) in Europe. In the automotive industry, cybersecurity refers to protecting vehicle systems and networks with trustworthy security technologies to counter cyberattack risks such as external hacking and prevent user personal information leaks.
A Hyundai Mobis official said, "As regulations on vehicle security are being strengthened worldwide, obtaining such certification will become a key competitive advantage for global products and orders. Going forward, we will provide 'mobility integrated solutions' that innovate user experiences by converging elemental technologies."
