Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced that it will hold the ‘2025 Eulsa Year Jeongwol Daeboreum Folk Games Festival’ on February 8 at the plaza in front of Sowol Art Hall.

Organized by the Seongdong Cultural Center, this event is prepared to pray for peace and well-being throughout the year, coinciding with Jeongwol Daeboreum, the first full moon of the lunar new year.

The event will begin with Jisinbalgi (ritual to walk on the earth to drive away evil spirits) and a street parade, followed by traditional performances including folk songs and Korean dance, as well as performances by invited singers. Participants will also crack nuts (bureom) to wish for a peaceful year and enjoy traditional food booths offering Gwibalkisul (ear-opening liquor) and traditional teas.

There will be traditional game experience booths such as Gonu and Tuho, which can be enjoyed by people of all ages, along with a raffle event to provide special enjoyment.

Additionally, traditional folk games like Yutnori and Jegichagi will be held in a competition among 17 neighborhoods, expected to serve as a venue for community harmony.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “I hope this ‘Jeongwol Daeboreum Folk Games Festival’ will be a meaningful time for residents to pray together for peace and well-being and to communicate with each other. We will continue to make meticulous efforts so that all residents can have a happy and healthy year.”
