Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will promote various welfare projects for public officials throughout the year, providing more diverse and reliable support.
To this end, the district has established the '2025 Comprehensive Welfare Plan for Employees' and will continue 20 support projects across five areas, including health management, leisure activities, and housing stability, throughout the year.
First, a new initiative called the 'Songpa Employee Health Challenge' will be launched to help public officials manage their health. Public officials who achieve health goals such as quitting smoking or increasing muscle mass will receive additional welfare points worth 70,000 KRW.
Among the resort support projects, the use of autonomous resorts will be expanded from the existing lottery system to all public officials. This measure actively reflects last year's survey results. It supports part of the accommodation costs for domestic hotels, pensions, and glamping facilities. The existing corporate condo use will also continue to be provided to help with leisure activities.
The 'Employee Discount Promotion,' which received great responses last year, will also be expanded. Through partnerships with local small businesses such as cafes, restaurants, beauty salons, fitness centers, and hospitals, employees can use services at prices 5-30% lower than the regular price. Especially from this year, a mobile 'Discount Map' has been created to make it easier to check partner information.
Support for childbirth congratulatory money for public officials in response to the low birthrate era will continue. For employees or their spouses who give birth, 2 million KRW will be paid for the first child, 3 million KRW for the second, and 5 million KRW for the third. In fact, last December, the district paid a lump sum of 10 million KRW to a public official who gave birth to triplets.
Housing stability for public officials without homes will see an expansion in eligible recipients and guarantee amounts. Public officials will only bear 1% of the interest on a housing loan principal of up to 30 million KRW, with the rest supported by the district. This year, 40 public officials who are heads of households without homes residing in Seoul and the metropolitan area will benefit. Special groups including new public officials and newlyweds are also included. Additionally, the support scope has been expanded to contract-based public officials, and the standard for rental deposit support has been raised from 400 million KRW to 500 million KRW.
Furthermore, the number of affiliated hospitals for employee health checkups has been increased from 14 to 28, and applications can now be made via a mobile app. Various projects such as ▲new employee adaptation congratulatory travel points ▲birthday congratulatory money ▲club support will be carried out to create a better working environment.
The welfare of public officials in the district is a flagship project personally overseen by Mayor Seo Gang-seok to realize servant administration. Based on the opinions of affiliated public officials, innovative projects were promoted, leading to the district being ranked first nationwide in the 'Welfare Project Excellence Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of Personnel Management in 2023.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “We have prepared welfare projects that listen carefully to the voices of our public officials and firmly fill in the gaps. This year, we will enhance public officials’ job satisfaction through differentiated welfare and provide the best administrative services to residents.”
