Kim Ga-young, a weathercaster accused of bullying in connection with the death of late MBC freelance weathercaster Oh Yo-anna, has been dismissed from her position as an honorary ambassador of Paju City, Gyeonggi Province.
According to a report by Yonhap News on the 6th, Paju City decided to dismiss weathercaster Kim Ga-young from her role as honorary ambassador in accordance with Article 5 of the Ordinance on the Operation of Honorary Ambassadors.
Article 5 (Dismissal) of the Ordinance on the Operation of Honorary Ambassadors of Paju City states that dismissal may occur if the ambassador expresses a desire to resign, avoids ambassador activities without justifiable reason, is deemed inappropriate to perform duties due to damage to dignity as an ambassador, or if there are other special circumstances making it difficult to continue performing duties.
Appointed as an honorary ambassador of Paju City on August 1, 2023, Kim appeared in promotional activities such as the official Paju City government social media channel video titled "Paju Tourism Weather is Clear Today." Kim’s term as honorary ambassador was set to expire on July 31.
In addition, Kim is facing the risk of being ousted from the broadcasting industry. After stepping down from the MBC radio program "Good Morning FM, This is Tae" on the 3rd, where she had been a regular since 2019, demands for her departure have also surged on the viewer message board of SBS entertainment program "Kick a Goal, Girls."
