Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Son Byeong-bok) will provide free scaling services for seniors on a first-come, first-served basis from February to November until the budget is exhausted.
This project aims to suppress the progression of gum disease and alleviate the economic burden by providing scaling procedures to seniors aged 65 and older, who are prone to periodontal disease.
The eligible recipients are seniors aged 65 or older residing in Uljin-gun, and the program supports the out-of-pocket costs for scaling covered by health insurance once a year.
Seniors wishing to receive support can visit affiliated hospitals in the area with their ID to get the procedure. There are a total of 10 affiliated hospitals: in Uljin-eup, Bundangmi Dental Clinic, Min Dental Clinic, Jeil Dental Clinic, and Manse Dental Clinic; and in Buk-myeon, Jukbyeon-myeon, and Hupo-myeon, two clinics each: Yonsei Central Dental Clinic, Hyundai Dental Clinic, Jukbyeon Miso Dental Clinic, Yonsei Baek Dental Clinic, Woori Dental Clinic, and Hyemin Dental Clinic.
Jung Dae-kyo, director of the Uljin-gun Public Health Center, said, “We hope seniors actively use the free scaling support project for oral health and prevent periodontal disease through proper oral care.”
