Jeonnam Police Save Life with Rapid Response to Emergency Situation

Swift Emergency Response Saves Lives During the Golden Hour
Citizens Regain Consciousness Thanks to Prompt CPR by Police Officers

Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency (Commissioner Mo Sangmyo) saved precious lives through swift action, including performing CPR on unconscious citizens during the ongoing cold wave.


According to Jeonnam Police on the 6th, on the morning of the 31st of last month, a report was received via 112 that individual A had collapsed at a bus stop in Suncheon. Senior Inspector Jung Jonghun and Officer Yang Juwon from the Yeokjeon Police Box of Suncheon Police Station were immediately dispatched.

Upon arriving quickly at the scene, the officers confirmed the urgent situation of A, who was lying on the floor of the bus stop with no pulse or breathing. Without hesitation, they requested cooperation from 119 and immediately performed CPR to secure the golden time. The 119 paramedics arrived, used an automated external defibrillator, and A regained consciousness.


A similar case occurred around the same time in Jindo. On the afternoon of the 23rd of last month, after receiving a 112 report that individual B had collapsed at a restaurant, Inspector Lee Jaetak and Officer Jang Youngju from the Gunnnae Police Box of Jindo Police Station rushed to the scene. With determination to save the individual, they took turns performing CPR without rest.


Thanks to the quick judgment and action of Inspector Lee and Officer Jang, B regained consciousness, was handed over to the 119 paramedics, and transported to the hospital for recovery. The officers also provided guidance about the situation at the time and checked on B's condition.


Commissioner Mo Sangmyo stated, "Due to the nature of police work, there is a high probability of encountering emergency patients in the field, so active and proactive responses are necessary in disaster and emergency situations. We will continue to provide the necessary education and training to enhance the life-saving capabilities of police officers and do our utmost to protect the lives and safety of the public."
