A Record 42 Teams to Participate

Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that on January 23, the Gwangyang City Sports Council and the Korea Football Association confirmed the regulations and match schedule for the '26th Baegun Cup National High School Soccer Tournament' through a representatives' meeting held in the seminar room on the 2nd floor of the Gwangyang Seonghwang Sports Center.
The 26th Baegun Cup National High School Soccer Tournament will be held in Gwangyang for 15 days from the 13th to the 27th, with a record 42 teams participating to fiercely compete for the title of the nation's top high school soccer team.
The participating teams will be divided into 11 groups to play a preliminary group league. The first and second place teams from each group will advance to the finals, which will be conducted in a knockout format starting from the round of 22. From the round of 22 to the semifinals, in the event of a draw, the winner will be decided by penalty shootout. In the final, extra time (10 minutes each half) will be played, and if the match is still tied, the winner will be determined by penalty shootout.
The opening match of the tournament will be held at 10 a.m. on the 13th at Gwangyang Football Stadium No. 1, with Cheongju Daeseong High School facing off against Gimpo Football Center U18 team. All matches will be broadcast live on the 'Gwangyang City Hall TV' YouTube channel, allowing fans across the country to watch the games in real time.
The city has completed thorough preparations to ensure smooth operation of the tournament and convenience for visitors. Hygiene inspections have been completed for accommodations and restaurants, and volunteers and guides will be stationed at each venue to support smooth proceedings. In addition, the city plans to focus on traffic management and environmental maintenance around the stadiums.
