Professor Su-il In of the Department of Energy Engineering at DGIST (President Geonwoo Lee) announced on the 6th that he has been appointed as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
Founded in 1841, the Royal Society of Chemistry in the UK is a globally prestigious chemical academic society that has played a significant role in the advancement of science, education, and research support. It currently has about 54,000 members and grants the 'FRSC' qualification to researchers with outstanding research achievements and academic contributions after a rigorous review. This title is an honorable status symbolizing the researcher's expertise and leadership, held by world-renowned scientists such as Nobel Chemistry Prize winner Richard F. Heck and Francis Crick.
Professor In earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in the UK, and after working at the Technical University of Denmark and Pennsylvania State University in the USA, he has continued research and education at DGIST since 2012. He conducts advanced convergence research based on nano and bio-convergent materials in fields such as energy, environment, biomedical diagnosis, and treatment, establishing himself as a global authority in these areas.
He has been recognized for his research achievements by receiving numerous academic and merit awards from various academic societies, including the DGIST Best Academic Award, the Korean Chemical Society, and the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Professor In stated, "Being appointed as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry is not only a personal honor but also an achievement made together with my research team and DGIST," adding, "I will continue to contribute to solving global challenges in the energy sector."
Meanwhile, Professor Su-il In’s appointment as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry is a result of his internationally recognized research achievements and academic contributions, significantly enhancing the reputation of DGIST and Professor In’s research team. DGIST plans to use this as a stepping stone to continue innovation in the fields of energy and convergence technology, further solidifying its position as a world-class research institution.
