"All Assets Must Be United for Regime Change," Appeals Im
Criticism of Lee Jae-myung from Anti-Lee Figures Continues Day After Day
Former Presidential Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok continued his offensive against Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, "If you cannot win the hearts of the majority of the people, I hope Lee Jae-myung will have the resolve of 'do or die' to complete the regime change even if it means sacrificing himself on the altar." On the 6th, Im stated on his social networking service (SNS), "Even if it is not Lee Jae-myung, the regime change must remain unwavering."

He added, "Now, when the presidential election schedule has not been finalized, is the golden time for the Democratic Party," and said, "Only by achieving a clean regime change without controversy can we quell internal strife and complete impeachment." He also said, "If Lee Jae-myung must be at the center of this, he must grow much bigger than he is now." While acknowledging, "I know that Lee Jae-myung has recently been striving to transform into a governing party, a policy party, and a future-oriented party," he emphasized, "Lee Jae-myung alone cannot do everything well."
Former Chief of Staff Im also said, "The perception of only catering to the support base is not much different from mistaking the Taegeukgi rallies and conservative YouTube as the public opinion of the people," and "I repeatedly appeal to unite all assets for the single goal of regime change." Finally, he stressed, "Even if it is not Lee Jae-myung, the regime change must remain unwavering," adding, "What the people want is that, and leaders are born that way." Earlier, on the 3rd, Im had advised the Democratic Party, saying, "Only by fully accepting that candidate Lee Jae-myung was lacking and that the party's strategy was absent will the path to victory become visible."
Meanwhile, criticism of Lee Jae-myung by figures from the anti-Lee faction continues. Former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said the day before that "The Democratic Party's overall approval rating will rise only if Lee Jae-myung sufficiently accepts criticism from former Governor Kim Kyung-soo and former Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok." On the same day, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon commented on Lee’s recent pragmatic approach, saying, "The values and philosophy we pursue must clearly maintain our identity." Former Governor Kim Kyung-soo of South Gyeongsang Province, who applied to rejoin the Democratic Party, emphasized, "It will be difficult for us to win elections without embracing the party members and supporters who have left."
