The research team led by Professors Byungho Lee and Yoonhee Kim from Duksung Women's University’s Department of Early Childhood Education devised a practical Sensory-based User Interface (SUI) platform through their study on 'Development of Sensory-based User Interface (SUI) Technology for Supporting Cognitive, Behavioral, and Mental Health Development in Early Childhood.' This platform is expected to play a pivotal role in precisely measuring and analyzing the developmental status of young children and developing customized educational programs based on the data.
In particular, the research team, in collaboration with Professor Minkoo Kim from Yonsei University, proudly ranked among the top 12 outstanding achievements in the STEAM Convergence Research Division under the category of Nationally Perceived Social Problem-Solving Achievements, being recognized for excellent results among a total of 869 research outcomes.
Professor Yoonhee Kim stated, “Our research team’s SUI platform will provide practical assistance to early childhood cognitive and behavioral development by proving its effectiveness through empirical research in early childhood education settings.” Professor Byungho Lee added, “This research, which began in 2022 and aims for completion in 2026, will innovatively establish an early childhood development support system through long-term study. Being selected as a top national R&D achievement will serve as an opportunity to reaffirm the practicality and social value of our research.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Top 100 National R&D Achievements’ system, established in 2006, aims to promote public understanding and pride in science and technology and to select outstanding research achievements across government ministries. Now in its 19th year, its status continues to strengthen.
