"Kim Kyungsoo Should Stop Acting Like a Leader," Criticism
"Lim Jongseok Should Look for Another Job," Advice
Writer Yoo Si-min expressed a critical view of the presidential election strategies of non-Lee Jae-myung faction candidates who are trying to check Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and increase their presence. On the 5th, appearing on the YouTube broadcast 'Maebul Show,' Yoo strongly criticized the non-Lee faction candidates who voice criticism against the 'Lee Jae-myung unipolar system,' saying they are "heading down a path to ruin." He argued that in the emergency situation where the next presidential election is framed as a conflict between pro-constitutional forces and insurrection forces, the traditional political logic of attacking the frontrunner to increase one’s standing does not work.

Yoo said, "(The non-Lee faction) is not wrong ethically or logically, but the situation is special," adding, "This is an emergency situation where the insurrection forces’ rampage must be thoroughly and completely suppressed. In a game structure that is even more intensified than the last general election, if you act like a moralizer saying things like 'Lee Jae-myung, you lost the presidential election because you were incompetent,' or 'Do you think you can do well alone?' you are heading down a path to ruin."
He further stated that rather, the non-Lee faction candidates should unite with Lee Jae-myung in a single front to end the insurrection in order to have a chance. Yoo said, "If Lee cannot run (in the presidential election), who do you think the voters who supported Lee Jae-myung will support?" He added, "They will give their votes not to those who said 'Lee Jae-myung can’t because of judicial risks,' but to the person who fought the hardest." Yoo also said, “Political power arises from sensing the public’s desires and acting accordingly; exposing my own desires achieves nothing,” and “When the game changes, you have to accept the changed game.”
He continued with advice and harsh words for individual candidates. Yoo advised Kim Kyung-soo, former governor of Gyeongnam Province and considered a pro-Moon Jae-in faction heir, saying, "I think it is appropriate for him to run in the presidential primary," but added, "In this situation, he should adopt a strategy of being a good second." This means raising the tension of the primary by competing with Lee while doing so in a way that party members and supporters can accept. However, Yoo pointed out that Kim’s recent Facebook post demanding an apology from Lee, saying, "Many people felt humiliated and distanced themselves or left the party during the local and general elections after the 2022 presidential election," was a minus factor. Yoo said, "He lost more than half of that opportunity in the past few days," but added, "I think it’s not completely too late yet. He should stop acting like a leader."

Yoo also criticized Kim Dong-yeon, governor of Gyeonggi Province. Earlier, on the 28th of last month, Kim appeared on a YouTube channel and said, "Considering the public sentiment about judicial risks, we cannot just overlook it as if nothing happened." Yoo evaluated Kim’s remarks by saying, "He became governor by sticking with Lee Jae-myung," and "He ran for president, then followed the unification course with Lee Jae-myung, joined the Democratic Party, and received the nomination to become governor of Gyeonggi Province." He added, "Lee’s supporters were very angry about the presidential election loss in Gyeonggi Province and strongly supported Kim Dong-yeon to win, right? But now, talking about 'judicial risks' like that is ungrateful," strongly criticizing him.
Additionally, Yoo evaluated former presidential chief of staff Lim Jong-seok, an icon of the '386 politicians,' saying, "He should have gone to a difficult district even if he lost in the last general election," and "Trying to return to his original constituency (Seongdong-gu Gap, Seoul) was something he shouldn’t have done, so he should have looked for another job. Politics doesn’t suit him."
