Shin Sang-jin, Mayor of Seongnam: "We Will Cheer Together with All Citizens"
Choi Min-jung, Kim Gil-ri, and Kim Geon-hee to Compete in Five Events Including 500m and 1000m
Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) announced on the 6th that the Seongnam City Hall Skating Team will participate in the short track speed skating events at the Winter Asian Games held in Harbin, China, from the 7th to the 14th.

As the flagship national representatives in short track speed skating, Seongnam City Hall athletes Choi Min-jung, Kim Gil-ri, and Kim Geon-hee are scheduled to compete in five events: 500m, 1000m, 1500m, 2000m mixed relay, and 3000m relay. These world-class athletes have consistently maintained their competitive edge through participation in the ISU Short Track World Tour.
Additionally, the Seongnam City Hall Skating Team has strengthened their performance through regular joint training sessions with external teams. As a result, at the 106th National Winter Sports Festival, Kim Gil-ri and Choi Min-jung won three and two gold medals respectively. Notably, Kim Gil-ri demonstrated outstanding skill by achieving five gold medals at the 2025 Torino Winter World University Games.
Mayor Shin Sang-jin stated, “We will unite with all citizens to cheer on our athletes so that they can raise the pride of South Korea at the Harbin Winter Asian Games,” and added, “We will do our best to establish a systematic support system befitting the reputation of the skating team.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Shin Sang-jin plans to visit the local venue on the 8th and 9th to support the athletes and will encourage the team during a dinner on the evening of the 9th.
