Charges of Providing a Borrowed-Name Mobile Phone and a Hiding Place
A friend who was indicted for assisting Kim Mo (36), the CEO of Lumen Payments, who fled after causing a repayment delay incident worth 78 billion won, has been sentenced to imprisonment.
On the 5th, the 14th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Court (Presiding Judge Jang Seong-hoon) sentenced Park Mo (51), who was indicted for aiding a fugitive, to 10 months in prison.
The court stated, "The defendant, knowing that the investigation into Kim was ongoing, moved between regions such as Seoul and Wonju in Gangwon Province, providing him with a borrowed-name mobile phone, thereby obstructing the investigation. This caused confusion in the criminal justice system, and the nature of the crime is not good."
Park is accused of providing Kim, who fled by not appearing at the pre-trial detention hearing (warrant review) in August last year, with a borrowed-name mobile phone, a hiding place, and a vehicle. They were caught at a hiding place in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, in August last year.
Kim is accused of setting up a paper company and embezzling 72 billion won by obtaining advance loans secured by false credit card sales receivables from an online investment-linked finance company. He also received an advance loan of 6 billion won from another company and did not repay it.
