Kim Dong-yeon on Yoon's absurd claim "Nothing happened": "Is the main culprit who turned the country into a backward nation overnight really in a position to speak?"

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon lamented President Yoon Seok-yeol's statement at the Constitutional Court on the 4th that "nothing happened," saying, "Is it appropriate for the main culprit who turned the country into a backward nation overnight to say such things?"

On the 5th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "(President Yoon) said 'nothing happened,'" and questioned, "If nothing happened, then why did the exchange rate soar? If nothing happened, why did the stock market plunge? If nothing happened, why does the economic growth rate continue to fall?"

He continued, "Is it appropriate for the main culprit who created a 'backward nation overnight' to say such things?" and claimed, "The country's external credibility has plummeted, and the daily lives of the people have frozen in anxiety."

In particular, he said, "It was not nothing but a tremendous event. It was solely because of one person," adding, "The shamelessness of not even feeling sorry to the people is deplorable. This is not a country or people to be taken lightly by a traitor. I will watch until the end together with the people."

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, also said at the party's Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly main building in Yeouido, Seoul, on the morning of the same day, "Yoon Seok-yeol, the defendant of the rebellion, related parties, and the People Power Party are trying to trivialize the rebellion incident," adding, "They say it was just a shadow of the moon, that nothing happened. I wonder if they are trying to make the (martial law incident) a midsummer night's dream."

Furthermore, he said, "If nothing happened, why does criminal law have the concept of attempt?" and "It was not that nothing happened, but a serious event occurred, and thanks to countless coincidences, we are barely recovering like this."

Earlier, on the 4th, President Yoon claimed at the 5th hearing of his impeachment trial held at the Constitutional Court, "Looking at this case, nothing actually happened, but there were talks like 'Did you give the order?' or 'Did you receive the order?' which felt like chasing the shadow of the moon floating on a lake."
