Chinese AI startup DeepSeek is attracting attention by launching large-scale recruitment amid a global frenzy caused by its unveiling of ultra-high-performance AI. The company is securing talent by offering top-tier compensation, including an annual salary of 300 million KRW for full-time employees and a daily wage of 200,000 KRW for interns.

According to China Fund News on the 4th, DeepSeek recently posted job openings for deep learning researchers, core system R&D engineers, and senior user experience (UI) designers. Through the announcement, DeepSeek stated, "We are looking for talents who proactively research and solve core AI problems." Regarding its corporate culture, it described itself as "a place dedicated to the essential work related to AI, where curiosity drives the search for the biggest problems with the longest perspective."

Reviewing the postings, most starting salaries exceed 20,000 yuan (approximately 40 million KRW), and many annual salaries surpass 1 million yuan. The highest-paying position is the AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) deep learning researcher, with a monthly salary ranging from 80,000 to 110,000 yuan and a top annual salary reaching 1.54 million yuan (about 307 million KRW). Candidates for this role must be proficient in machine learning (deep learning), possess innovative research capabilities, excellent programming skills with fluency in at least two programming languages, have abundant research achievements, and have published related papers in major international conferences or journals. Priority is given to those who have achieved outstanding results in well-known competitions.

The salary for core system R&D engineers ranges from 60,000 to 90,000 yuan per month, while large model full-stack engineers are offered between 50,000 and 80,000 yuan monthly. Monthly salaries for deep learning R&D engineers and senior UI designers range from 30,000 to 70,000 yuan. The top annual salaries for data architecture engineers, full-stack development engineers, and client R&D engineers are confirmed to be 910,000 yuan, 840,000 yuan, and 560,000 yuan, respectively.

Internship compensation is also set at the highest level. In addition to full-time employees, DeepSeek is conducting selection procedures for AGI large model interns with daily wages ranging from 500 to 990 yuan. Data specialist interns receive daily wages of 500 to 510 yuan. Eligibility for interns requires AGI large model interns to be graduate students majoring in computer science or related fields, though outstanding undergraduates may also apply. They must have programming skills and a foundation in deep learning and machine learning, as well as proficiency in PyTorch.

Meanwhile, DeepSeek caused a global stir by launching the inference AI model ‘DeepSeek R1’ in January this year, which reportedly delivers performance similar to OpenAI’s ‘ChatGPT’ at a lower cost. Although generative AI model development has mainly been led by U.S. companies even two years after the debut of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, DeepSeek has attracted market attention by implementing low-cost, high-performance AI. Experts unanimously stated, “DeepSeek’s AI chip is one of the most astonishing and impressive innovations we have seen so far.”
