All Pohang Residents Now Covered by Insurance
Insurance Benefits Provided in Case of Disaster or Accident
Coverage Expanded to Include Rural Area Accidents
On the 5th, Pohang City announced that it has enrolled all residents registered in Pohang in a citizen safety insurance that guarantees coverage against disasters and accidents.
Citizen safety insurance is a system that pays insurance benefits for damages that may occur in the event of unexpected disasters and accidents during daily life, and any Pohang citizen can be covered without any separate procedures.
In the event of a disaster or safety accident, insurance benefits can be claimed from the Local Finance Mutual Aid Association, the insurance company contracted with Pohang City, to receive benefits.
Since 2019, the city has been enrolling citizens in citizen safety insurance applicable to everyone to ensure citizen safety and has been paying insurance benefits to those who have suffered damages.
In particular, the city focuses administrative efforts every year to analyze types of damages and provide more safety services to citizens.
Starting this year, the coverage scope has been expanded to include electric shear accidents, which are frequent in rural areas, under agricultural machinery accidents.
Citizen safety insurance covers 14 items including ▲death from natural disaster injury accidents ▲death from explosion, fire, or collapse injury accidents ▲sequelae from explosion, fire, or collapse injury accidents ▲death from injury accidents while using public transportation ▲sequelae from injury accidents while using public transportation ▲death from drowning accidents ▲treatment costs for injuries from school zone traffic accidents ▲death from agricultural machinery injury accidents ▲sequelae from agricultural machinery injury accidents ▲death from social disasters (excluding infectious diseases and illnesses) ▲death from gas accident injuries ▲sequelae from gas accident injuries ▲death from personal mobility device injury accidents ▲death from dog bite injuries.
Heo Jeong-wook, Director of the Urban Safety and Housing Bureau, said, “Citizen safety insurance is designed to stabilize the lives of citizens who suffer unexpected damages from various disasters or accidents,” and added, “We will make further efforts to create a safer Pohang by strengthening the social safety net.”
