A driver who caused two accidents while driving under the influence and then tried to pose as a passenger by moving to the front passenger seat was caught by the police.
On the 3rd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's YouTube channel released a video titled "From Driver's Seat to Passenger Seat? Drunk Driver Fleeing After Accident." According to the video, at 2 a.m. on December 29 last year, a black sedan driving through an alley in Seoul collided with a parked vehicle.
However, the driver of the accident vehicle did not get out of the car and continued driving. During this process, the front bumper, which was hanging loose from the initial collision, fell off, and the vehicle caused several more accidents, including hitting a parked motorcycle.

When the police arrived following a report from a witness, a woman got out of the front passenger seat of the accident vehicle and ran into a building, but the police chased and caught her. There was no one inside the vehicle. CCTV footage secured by the police control center clearly showed the woman moving from the driver's seat to the front passenger seat before the police arrived.
The woman caught by the police initially denied driving, but after being shown the CCTV footage, she eventually admitted to drunk driving. The woman, arrested for violating the Road Traffic Act, was found to be in a state of severe intoxication at a level warranting license cancellation according to the breathalyzer test.
Netizens who saw the video commented, "Would she have been innocent if she had run to the convenience store and immediately downed soju?" "Thank you to the police officers for their hard work," "When severely intoxicated, one cannot recognize their own actions at all. Drunk driving at this level should be prosecuted with detention," "It's because the law is too weak," and so on.
Meanwhile, according to the National Police Agency, the number of drunk driving cases detected last year totaled 130,150, a 12% increase compared to two years ago. There were 13,042 drunk driving traffic accidents, resulting in 159 deaths and 20,628 injuries.
