On the 4th (local time), AP, Reuters, and others reported, "At around 12:30 PM, a shooting incident took place at an adult education center in the Orebro area, about 200 km west of the capital Stockholm." This school provides education for those aged 20 and above, including elementary and middle school education, Swedish language classes for immigrants, and vocational training.

The police initially stated at the first press conference immediately after the incident that at least five people, including the suspect, were injured, but later announced at an additional press conference that about 10 people had died. They also said they are confirming the identities of the deceased and are still assessing the overall number of injured.

The motive for the crime has not been precisely confirmed. However, the police stated that no connection to terrorism has been identified so far. They are also investigating whether there are any accomplices.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said on X (formerly Twitter), "It is a very painful day for Sweden," and added, "I offer my condolences to everyone for whom an ordinary day at school suddenly turned into a moment of terror."

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen posted on X, "The incident that occurred today in Orebro is truly horrific," and said, "Such violence and terrorism have no place in our society, especially in schools."
