“For Stable County Administration and Regional Development”
Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held a strategic budget securing meeting for national and provincial subsidies for 2026 at the county office conference room on the 3rd.
The meeting was organized to discover new projects that need to be prioritized in 2026, excluding general national and provincial subsidy projects, and to review preliminary preparations and issues related to national and provincial subsidy projects.
At the meeting attended by County Governor Oh Tae-wan and senior officials, the target amount for securing national and provincial subsidies next year was set at 168.3 billion KRW, an increase of 3.1 billion KRW compared to this year.
The major new projects identified by each department include ▲ Baekya District Flood Damage Living Zone Comprehensive Maintenance Project (39.8 billion KRW) ▲ Ocheon District Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project (29.6 billion KRW) ▲ Jeongam District Our Neighborhood Revitalization Urban Regeneration Project (8.3 billion KRW) ▲ Sinban District Urban Regeneration Recognition Project (11.8 billion KRW), among others.
The attendees agreed to timely secure national and provincial subsidies, leveraging the favorable timing as most of the 374.4 billion KRW in contest project funds secured during the 8th local government term will be actively implemented starting this year, tightening efforts for change.
In particular, Governor Oh instructed to focus on securing national and provincial subsidies with the goal of creating a ‘strategic environment’ to attract a living population. He urged the prompt completion of ongoing projects such as the youth hostel construction project and the Middle East District regional specialized regeneration urban regeneration project, and actively pursuing national and provincial subsidies for new projects like the Sotbawi area tourism revitalization project and the Baekamjeong Toegye Seonseong exploration trail creation.
Governor Oh said, “In the context of national fiscal austerity, securing national and provincial subsidy budgets is essential for stable county administration and regional development. I will personally keep knocking on the doors of central government ministries and Gyeongnam Province without rest. Let us all join forces to open the door wide for the future of Uiryeong.”
