Formation of Economic Delegation of Top 20 Group CEOs Including Chey Taewon
Meetings Planned with Senior Officials of the Trump Administration
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and a delegation of CEOs from the top 20 conglomerates, known as the 'Outreach Delegation for Korea-US Trade,' will visit Washington DC on the 19th and 20th. This is the first economic delegation since the launch of the second Trump administration.
On the 4th, KCCI announced that the delegation plans to expand its local network with key figures in the US political and business sectors through outreach activities such as a gala dinner and high-level meetings. Although the list of attendees has not been disclosed, it is expected that Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group and KCCI Chairman, along with Cho Hyun-sang, Vice Chairman of HS Hyosung, will participate.

On the 19th, a gala dinner will be held at the Thomas Jefferson Building of the US Library of Congress, attended by key figures from both countries. About 100 people, including US Congress members from both the House and Senate who maintain close ties with Korea, as well as senior government officials, will attend. It is expected to serve as a platform for building networks to strengthen Korea-US economic cooperation.
From the 20th to the 22nd, the National Governors Association (NGA) Winter Meeting will be held in Washington DC, and key figures such as governors from states where Korean companies have concentrated investments are confirmed to be among the invitees.
On the 20th, meetings with key US government officials are planned. The delegation will meet with high-ranking officials of the second Trump administration, including White House representatives and ministers confirmed by Congress, to expand communication channels between the two countries and lay the groundwork for cooperation.
Lee Sung-woo, Head of the International Trade Division at KCCI, stated, "From the first Trump administration through 2023, Korea's investment in the US reached $160 billion, ranking first among major countries, and created 830,000 jobs in the US." He added, "We will promote the contributions of our companies to the US economy to counter tariff policies imposed on countries with trade surpluses with the US." He further said, "We hope this will be a good start to Korea-US trade cooperation and open the door to further collaboration."
