On the 3rd, the city held a Safety Management Working Committee meeting at the City Hall Disaster Safety Situation Room to prepare for events such as the Jeongwol Daeboreum Daljip Burning, deciding to focus administrative power on citizen safety.

Additionally, until the event, the city plans to implement special measures such as joint on-site intensive inspections with experts from various fields to identify and promptly improve safety hazards and expand the deployment of safety personnel.

This Safety Management Working Committee is composed of related organizations including Vice Mayor Jang Sang-gil as chairman, Pohang North and South Police Stations, Pohang North and South Fire Stations, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, Korea Gas Safety Corporation, Pohang Meteorological Observatory, Pohang Regional Architectural Society, as well as heads of six local districts and related departments within the region.

Given the nature of the Daljip Burning event, which involves fire, the focus was on responding to emergencies such as fires, preemptively removing factors that could cause safety accidents around the Daljip, and preventing fire accidents by placing fire extinguishers.

At some events, including the 17th Yugang Jeongwol Daeboreum Daljip Burning Festival, it is expected that more than 1,000 people will gather at peak times, so discussions were held regarding securing emergency evacuation routes for crowd safety, maintaining order, and traffic measures to alleviate citizen inconvenience.

Vice Mayor Jang Sang-gil stated, “We will cooperate closely with related organizations to ensure that tourists and citizens can safely enjoy the Jeongwol Daeboreum Daljip Burning event, and we will make every effort to prepare the event so that not a single safety accident occurs.”

The city holds a Safety Management Working Committee and conducts joint safety inspections with related organizations for high-risk local festivals and outdoor events that meet conditions such as ▲a peak audience of over 1,000 people ▲held in mountainous or aquatic areas ▲use of explosive materials such as fire, fireworks, petroleum products, or flammable gases, to review the adequacy of safety management plans.
