40% of Plots Allocated Free of Charge to Vulnerable Groups
Daegu Suseong-gu (District Mayor Kim Dae-kwon) is recruiting applicants for the public urban agriculture farms (weekend farms) from the 3rd to the 17th, where residents can directly cultivate fresh food, enhance their understanding of agriculture, and enjoy healthy leisure activities.
The public urban agriculture farms operated by Suseong-gu Office consist of a total of 4 locations with 450 plots. The allocation per farm is as follows: Joilgol Farm (Jisan-dong) 80 plots, Cheoneulsan Farm (Maeho-dong) 100 plots, Maeho Farm (Maeho-dong) 100 plots, and Palhyeon Farm (Gomo-dong) 170 plots.
Any Suseong-gu resident can apply for one plot per household, and the application period is until 6 PM on the 17th. Applications can be submitted through the Suseong-gu Office website or at the administrative welfare centers of the applicant’s residential district. Each plot, including common areas, is approximately 20㎡ in size and costs 40,000 KRW. Applicants will be selected by lottery. The results will be announced on March 4 on the Suseong-gu Office website, and the leased garden plots can be used from March 24 to December 12.
Notably, this year the special allocation (free allocation) for socially vulnerable groups has been expanded. In addition to the existing beneficiaries such as basic livelihood security recipients and persons with disabilities, reclusive individuals and those at risk of solitary death are now included as special allocation targets, and related organizations will also receive allocations. Out of the total 450 plots, 180 plots (40%) are designated for special allocation, which is more than double compared to the previous year.
Kim Dae-kwon, Mayor of Daegu Suseong-gu, said, “I hope that residents, exhausted from their busy daily lives, will cultivate fresh food themselves through garden activities, connect with nature, and find peace of mind and body. We will continue to promote urban agriculture projects that residents can enjoy.”
