Over 200,000 Units Sold Overseas
Sportage Remains Most Popular Model
Kia announced on the 3rd that it sold 239,571 units in the global market in January, a 2.4% decrease compared to the same period last year. Domestic sales sharply declined due to a reduced number of business days caused by the Lunar New Year holiday.
The best-selling model in the global market was the Sportage, with 43,473 units sold, followed by the Seltos with 22,198 units and the Sorento with 21,421 units.
Domestic sales amounted to 38,403 units, down 13.9% compared to the same month last year.
The top-selling vehicle domestically was the Sorento, with 7,454 units sold. Passenger cars ranked as follows: Ray with 3,876 units, K5 with 2,583 units, and K8 with 2,297 units. For RVs, the Sportage sold 6,547 units, the Carnival 6,068 units, and the Seltos 4,342 units.
Commercial vehicles, including buses, totaled 2,520 units sold, with the Bongo III accounting for 2,419 units.
Overseas sales recorded 200,993 units, a 0.1% increase compared to the same month last year. The Sportage led overseas sales with 36,926 units sold, followed by the K3 (including K4) with 18,663 units and the Seltos with 17,856 units.
Special vehicles totaled 175 units sold, with 9 units domestically and 166 units overseas.
A Kia official stated, "Domestic sales temporarily declined due to fewer business days caused by the Lunar New Year holiday, but overseas markets continue to show sales growth. This year, we will expand our lineup with various new models such as the Tasman, Siros, EV4, PV5, and EV5 to sustain global sales growth."
