Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province held a special exhibition titled "The Webtoon Era" at the Angoul?me Basso Moebius Hall during the Angoul?me International Comics Festival in France, which opened on the 30th of last month.
The exhibition will showcase webtoon-based works that have gained global popularity, such as "Jeongnyeoni," "Solo Leveling," "Itaewon Class," "D.P: Dog Days," "Hell," "Sweet Home," and "All of Us Are Dead," until August 31.
These webtoons, based on digital storytelling, have been reborn as films, dramas, and animations, drawing significant attention in the global cultural industry. This exhibition is expected to provide European comic fans with a direct experience of the unique narratives and artistic achievements of Korean webtoons.

Bucheon City plans to present new possibilities for webtoons using digital technology in the European market, which is centered on published comics, and to deeply explore how various media based on this interact with popular culture and create cultural phenomena.
Previously, in 2020, the city signed a business agreement with Angoul?me City, the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency, and CIBDI (Angoul?me International Comics Image Complex) to promote the development of comics and creative industries, and plans to continue cultural cooperation mediated by webtoons, including this exhibition.
The mayor of Angoul?me, in his congratulatory speech at the opening of the K-webtoon exhibition, expressed hope that Bucheon City and Angoul?me City would maintain a continuous friendly cooperative relationship based on their common interest in comics, stating, "This exhibition will be a great opportunity to showcase the charm of K-webtoons to the world."
A Bucheon City official said, "This special exhibition is a golden opportunity to showcase the presence of webtoons and Bucheon at Europe's largest comics festival," adding, "We hope visitors will directly experience how webtoons have been adapted into visual media and their impact on global popular culture."
