BMW Korea's 'Charging Next' project is an electric vehicle charging infrastructure construction initiative launched in 2023 to address the growing demand for charging in line with the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market. Through this project, all installed electric vehicle chargers have been opened to the public, allowing any electric vehicle owner to conveniently charge their vehicle.

Additionally, BMW Korea has introduced lounge-style fast charging stations called 'BMW Charging Hub Lounge,' which add relaxation to the charging process, and the 'Plug and Charge (PnC)' service, which simplifies the electric vehicle charging procedure. These efforts have aimed not only to expand the quantity but also to improve the quality of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

BMW Korea began building its electric vehicle charging infrastructure in 2014. Along with the launch of the BMW i3, approximately 200 electric vehicle chargers were installed nationwide, including at BMW official showrooms, service centers, and 80 Emart stores.

By 2021, the cumulative number of installed electric vehicle chargers surpassed 500, exceeded 1,000 in 2023, and last year, with the installation of over 1,000 chargers, the total charging infrastructure reached 2,125 units.

In particular, BMW Korea is leading the popularization era by installing electric vehicle chargers nationwide. Chargers have been installed not only in the Seoul and Gyeonggi metropolitan areas with a total of 660 units but also across various regions such as Gangwon, Jeolla, and Ulsan, enabling all electric vehicle drivers to conveniently use charging facilities. In Jeju Island, where the electric vehicle ratio is high, and in the major city of Busan, which attracts many tourists, over 100 electric vehicle charging facilities have been established respectively, contributing to meeting the demand for electric vehicle charging.

Moreover, BMW Korea has shown interest not only in promoting eco-friendly pure electric vehicles but also in recycling electric vehicle batteries. In 2019, it opened Korea’s first 'e-Gopang Charging Station' in Jeju Island, which combines reused electric vehicle batteries with renewable energy generation.

BMW Korea stated, "This year, we plan to build a total of 600 additional electric vehicle chargers, including new concept ESG charging stations," and added, "We also plan to gradually expand the PnC service, which is uniquely offered in the imported car industry."
