Gyeonggi-do Sends Elementary School Admission Notices to Foreign Children Registered in 21 Cities and Counties

Gyeonggi Province will provide '2025 Elementary School Enrollment Guidance' to 2,037 registered foreign children aged 6 living in 21 cities and counties.

On the 3rd, Gyeonggi Province explained that this enrollment guidance was planned to address difficulties faced by elementary schools in areas densely populated with foreign children, who experience confusion due to the lack of information on foreign student enrollment status, and to solve the problem of foreign children being neglected without receiving enrollment guidance.

As of November last year, there are 3,407 six-year-old children eligible for elementary school enrollment guidance in the province. Among them, excluding 10 cities and counties such as Gimpo-si, where enrollment guidance was conducted first, and Gwacheon-si, where there are no six-year-old foreign children, 2,037 foreign children in 21 cities and counties are the target of this enrollment guidance.

Gyeonggi Province plans to expand foreign children enrollment guidance activities to all 31 cities and counties, including those that have not yet participated.

Heo Young-gil, Director of the Immigration and Social Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Enrollment guidance is not just a simple administrative procedure but an important policy that guarantees basic rights by providing foreign children and their families with equal opportunities as local residents," adding, "Gyeonggi Province will take the lead in building a Korea that grows together with diversity during the period of entering an immigrant society."
