Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Tae-sang) is accelerating talent development by conducting hands-on training essential for lithium-ion battery manufacturing.
From the 21st to the 22nd of last month, Gyeongnam Information University held the "Energy Up! 2nd Lithium-ion Battery Coin Cell Manufacturing and Evaluation Practical Training" at the university's Rash Memorial Hall.
This training was a specialized practical program organized by the university's Energy New Industry Innovation Convergence College Project Group, designed to cultivate talent in the energy new industry and secondary battery fields. Following the first training held in July, this second program combined theoretical lectures and practical exercises, focusing on strengthening participants' practical skills in secondary battery manufacturing.
Over two days, participants directly engaged in and experienced processes including △understanding the structure of secondary battery electrodes △synthesis of cathode active materials using the Sol-gel Process △coin cell assembly using a glove box △charging and discharging tests and analysis.
Students from participating universities nationwide, including Gyeongnam Information University, Korea University, Seoul National University, and Pusan National University, joined the training. Through team-based practice and presentations, it provided an opportunity to develop problem-solving skills and collaboration abilities.
Park Chae-yeon, a student from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Korea University who participated in the training, said, "It was very beneficial to directly experience the secondary battery manufacturing process, and it became an opportunity to concretely plan my career path in the energy new industry field."
Heo Kwang-seon, head of the Energy New Industry Innovation Convergence College Project Group at Gyeongnam Information University, emphasized, "We focused on providing practical experience by utilizing advanced equipment and facilities secured through the Energy New Industry Innovation Convergence College project," adding, "We will continue to strive to cultivate core talent in the energy new industry field."
At Gyeongnam Information College, training on the manufacturing and practical use of lithium-ion battery coin cells is being conducted.
