The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 3rd that it will conduct special safety inspections at 13 construction sites related to culture and arts, including the 'Danginri Culture Creation Factory,' starting from the 5th.
The ministry emphasized on the 1st that it will strengthen on-site safety inspections to prevent accidents like the recent fire at the National Hangeul Museum from happening again.
On the same day, the ministry held a meeting on 'Measures to Strengthen Fire Prevention and Management,' chaired by Minister Yoo In-chon.
Minister Yoo instructed special safety inspections at the 13 ongoing construction sites and urged thorough fire prevention and safety management not only at construction sites but also at multi-use facilities such as art galleries, museums, and performance halls. He also stressed, "It is crucial that the prevention system at construction sites operates continuously without interruption. To prevent the recurrence of similar accidents, please regularly assess and improve whether safety rules are being properly followed on-site and whether safety education and inspections are being adequately conducted."
Accordingly, the ministry plans to conduct special safety inspections at the 13 construction sites, inspect the status of major accident prevention at 38 affiliated institutions by June, and carry out focused safety inspections at 31 public institutions.
