[Special Stock] Sangbo Rises on US ITC Preliminary Ruling That Chinese Graphite Dumping Disrupts Competitive Order

Sangbo is showing strong performance. It is interpreted that this is influenced by the news that the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled that China artificially exported graphite, a key material for electric vehicle battery anode materials, at low prices, harming the U.S. graphite industry.

As of 1:57 PM on the 3rd, Sangbo is trading at 1,429 KRW, up 20.79% compared to the previous day.

According to a media report on the day, the ITC made a preliminary decision the day before that China distorted market order by exporting natural and synthetic graphite at unfair prices. This ruling is the first result two months after the Association of Active Anode Material Producers (AAAMP), representing U.S. graphite manufacturers, requested the U.S. Department of Commerce and ITC in December last year to impose punitive tariffs of up to 920% on Chinese graphite through an anti-dumping investigation.

This measure is also expected to have a significant impact on the Korean battery industry. After imposing tariffs on all battery materials worldwide, former President Trump is reportedly considering exempting tariffs through individual negotiations with allied countries. If Korea is included as an ally in the future, domestic companies are expected to gain indirect benefits.

Meanwhile, Sangbo operates a graphene manufacturing business by processing graphite and was also selected as the lead company for a national project on graphene barrier films.
