Dedicated Program Development Team and Regional Professional Institution Council to Be Operated

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) is set to actively promote the establishment of the (tentatively named) Ulsan Student Safety Experience Education Center on the site of the Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Complex in Jung-gu Innovation City, Ulsan (Boksan-dong, Jung-gu) this year.

The Ulsan Student Safety Experience Education Center will be established as a specialized institution for experiential safety education based on the "7 Major Standards for School Safety Education."

With a total project cost of 65 billion KRW, the center will be constructed as a three-story building with a total floor area of 7,952㎡, aiming to open in 2029.

The experience education center plans to differentiate itself from existing safety experience centers by providing students with practical and effective safety education.

Key experiential programs will include water safety (survival swimming), traffic and school life safety, prevention of school violence and sexual violence, prevention of drugs, alcohol, and gambling, fire and disaster safety, radiation response methods, occupational safety for vocational high schools, and specialized safety training for faculty and staff.

Starting in 2025, a dedicated team for program development and a regional professional institution network council will be operated to develop specialized education models and establish a school safety education operation model.

The Ulsan Office of Education has received approval from Ulsan City Hall for the relocation to Jung-gu Innovation City and is proceeding with the land purchase process, which will cost a total of 17.3 billion KRW.

The design phase will begin in 2026, and construction of the experience education center will start in 2027 in conjunction with the building works.

An official from the Ulsan Office of Education stated, "The Ulsan Student Safety Experience Education Center will be a space that strengthens student safety and Ulsan’s future disaster preparedness through experiential programs that differ from existing facilities. We will do our best to establish it as a hub for safety education."
