A Man in His 50s Arrested for Attacking Acquaintance with a Weapon During Political and Religious Argument

Detailed Circumstances of the Crime Under Investigation

A man in his 50s was arrested after wielding a weapon against an acquaintance during an argument about politics and religion.

The Daejeon Western Police Station announced on the 3rd that they had arrested Mr. A (in his 50s) on suspicion of attempted murder.

Mr. A is accused of stabbing an acquaintance, Mr. B (in his 50s), with a weapon while drinking together at a multi-family house in Doan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, around 2:20 a.m. on the 1st.

Mr. A called 119 immediately after the incident and was arrested at the scene by the police. Mr. B was stabbed in the clavicle area and was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. It is reported that his life is not in danger.

During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I committed the crime after the argument escalated while talking about politics and religion." A police official said, "We cannot confirm whether there is a prior record of similar offenses," adding, "We are investigating the detailed circumstances of the crime."
