Gwangju Bank (President Ko Byungil) announced on the 3rd that it has launched a real-time translation and interpretation service at its branches in collaboration with Flitto, an AI language data specialist company led by CEO Lee Jeongsu.
The real-time translation and interpretation service translates conversations between staff and foreign customers in real time through a microphone attached to a tablet PC installed at the branch.
This is an interactive communication service that displays the languages of both the employee and the customer in written form, which is expected to be of great help to foreign customers who have had difficulty expressing themselves.
Through this collaboration with Flitto, Gwangju Bank has enhanced the convenience of banking for foreigners by providing real-time translation and interpretation services in a total of 38 languages, including English, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Arabic.
In addition to foreigners, real-time voice and text conversion services via tablet PC are also provided for domestic senior citizens and customers with visual or hearing impairments, making it easier for them to use bank counters.
As the number of foreign customers using the service increases, Gwangju Bank continues to develop specialized products for foreigners. In the future, the bank plans to further enhance the convenience of financial transactions for foreigners by promoting initiatives such as a Foreign Customer Financial Center and a mobile bus service for foreigners.
Gwangju Bank's Vice President of the Digital Division, Byun Mikyung, said, "We have launched the real-time translation and interpretation service to improve financial convenience for foreign customers," and added, "We will continue to strive to provide better financial services and a more convenient environment for our foreign customers."
