The police are attempting a forced investigation of the Presidential Security Service office.
Kim Sang-hoon, Deputy Director of the Presidential Security Service, appeared as a witness at the first hearing of the "Special Committee on the National Assembly Investigation into the December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident" held at the National Assembly on the 22nd, responding to Chairman Ahn Kyu-baek's request for cooperation in the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's search of the presidential residence. On the 3rd, the Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency stated, "We are currently attempting to conduct a search and seizure of the Presidential Security Service office targeting Deputy Chief of Security Kim Seong-hoon and Security Headquarters Chief Lee Kwang-woo," adding, "We are on standby at the site to commence the search and seizure."
Earlier, the police had applied for arrest warrants for Deputy Chief Kim and Chief Lee, but the prosecution requested supplementary investigations. It is reported that the prosecution requested supplementation regarding the abuse of authority charges under the Act on the Protection of the President and Others (Presidential Security Act).
The police added new charges to the arrest warrant, concluding that Deputy Chief Kim's suspension of two security service employees during the execution of the second arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol constituted abuse of authority.
