6 Unreleased Films in Korea to Be Screened
Taekwang Group's art house cinema Cinecube announced on the 3rd that it will hold the 'Cinecube 2025 Academy Spotlight Series,' screening major Academy Award nominees this year. The special exhibition will run from the 8th of this month until the 18th of next month, featuring 13 films nominated for the 97th Academy Awards and 6 unreleased films in Korea.
This special exhibition will showcase hot topics such as 'Emilia Perez,' 'Brutalist,' 'Complete Unknown,' 'Conclave,' 'Sing Sing,' and 'Maria,' which received the most nominations at this year's Academy Awards. The series will begin on the 8th with the premiere screening of 'Conclave.'
'Emilia Perez' is a musical film directed by Jacques Audiard, the Palme d'Or-winning director at the Cannes Film Festival. It is nominated in 13 categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress. The film deals with a provocative story involving a gang boss who wants to be reborn as a woman, his wife who knew nothing, and a lawyer who offers a new life.
'Brutalist' portrays the life of the genius architect Laszlotos, who sublimated the wounds of war into architecture. It is nominated in 10 categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. Other notable works expected to win major awards include 'Complete Unknown,' which highlights Bob Dylan's youth, and 'Conclave,' which deals with the political tension surrounding the election of the Pope.
A representative from Cinecube said, "This is a special opportunity to see the spotlighted films recognized at the Academy Awards all in one place," adding, "Especially since the premiere screenings of unreleased films in Korea are included, it will be a more meaningful time for movie fans."
