Boeing Korea announced on the 3rd that it has appointed Will Schaefer, former president of Boeing Japan, as its new president.
President Schaefer (photo) graduated from the United States Naval Academy and Harvard Business School. He served for 10 years as a P-3 maritime patrol aircraft pilot in the U.S. Navy and retired as a major.
Since joining Boeing in 2013, he has held several key positions including Director of Product Development Supply Chain and Director of Supplier Management for Raw Materials and Standards. From 2019, he served as President of Boeing Japan and then as Vice President of Growth Planning for Boeing Global Services (BGS).
In addition to his role as President of Boeing Korea, Schaefer will lead country-specific strategy development, global geopolitical risk assessment, and identification of new growth opportunities as Vice President of Globalization and Market Development at Boeing.
Brendan Nelson, President of Boeing Global, introduced Schaefer as "the right person to lead Boeing’s Korean business and global strategy team at this critical time, based on his extensive experience and proven leadership at Boeing." President Schaefer said, "Boeing Korea operates world-class research and development facilities along with a growing customer base and supplier and partner ecosystem, and there will be more opportunities ahead."
