The comedy film 'Hitman 2' starring actor Kwon Sang-woo maintained its position at the top of the weekend box office for the second consecutive week.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system, over the past weekend (January 31 to February 2), 'Hitman 2' (directed by Choi Won-seop) attracted 450,753 viewers (39.2% of box office revenue), securing the number one spot. Since its release on January 22, it has accumulated a total audience of 1,968,744.
'Hitman 2' is the sequel to the 2020 film 'Hitman,' which drew 2.4 million viewers. The story follows writer Jun (played by Kwon Sang-woo), who gained popularity as the webtoon assassin agent Jun, as he faces failure with his follow-up work and a terrorist incident imitating his webtoon unfolds.
The occult film 'The Black Widows' starring Song Hye-kyo (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae) attracted 243,890 viewers over the weekend, ranking second. Released on January 24, it has drawn a cumulative audience of 1,430,388. The romance film 'Secret That Cannot Be Told' (directed by Seo Yoo-min), a remake of a Taiwanese movie starring Do Kyung-soo, Won Jin-ah, and Shin Ye-eun, attracted 160,863 viewers, placing third.
Ranked fourth was 'Harbin' (61,238 viewers), fifth 'Substance' (38,013 viewers), and sixth 'Pok?mon the Movie: AG - Lucario and the Mystery of Mew' (30,204 viewers). The total number of moviegoers over the weekend was recorded at 1,113,775.
