Goryeong-gun Operates and Educates Invasive Wildlife Damage Prevention Team

Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will operate the ‘2025 Nuisance Wildlife Damage Prevention Team’ from February to December.

The Damage Prevention Team will focus on intensive wild boar capture to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) and provide relief when receiving reports of crop damage caused by nuisance wildlife.

On the 31st of last month, the county held the ‘2025 Nuisance Wildlife Damage Prevention Team Operation Training’ at the Self-Sufficiency Education Room on the 2nd floor of the Daegaya Cultural Center in Goryeong-gun for the 27 team members and 8 town and township officials who were finally selected through an open recruitment process.

The training, jointly conducted by the Goryeong-gun Environmental Division and the Crime Prevention Response Division of the Goryeong Police Station, covered overall matters related to the operation of the nuisance wildlife damage prevention team, safety rules for firearm use and wildlife capture, and disinfection methods to prevent ASF.

County Governor Namcheol Lee said, “I hope the operation of the nuisance wildlife damage prevention team has been a great help to farmers suffering from crop damage caused by nuisance wildlife,” and added, “While blocking the entry of African Swine Fever is important, I urge the damage prevention team and officials to ensure that not a single safety accident or loss of life occurs.”
