Joo Ji-hoon’s ‘Severe Trauma Center’ Global Box Office Hit... Blitzway Studio Strengthens Actor Competitiveness

Joo Ji-hoon’s ‘Severe Trauma Center’ Global Box Office Hit... Blitzway Studio Strengthens Actor Competitiveness

Comprehensive content company Blitzway Studio announced on the 3rd that its affiliated actors have been making continuous achievements in the global OTT market, advancing strongly from the beginning of the new year.

As of 9:36 AM on the same day, Blitzway Studio's stock is trading at 1,886 KRW, up 17% compared to the previous day.

Joo Ji-hoon is dominating the Lunar New Year holiday buzz with his role as Baek Kang-hyuk in the Netflix series Severe Trauma Center, achieving top rankings not only domestically but also overseas. According to OTT content ranking site FlixPatrol, as of the 30th of last month, Severe Trauma Center surpassed Squid Game 2 to rank 2nd worldwide in the TV show category.

Severe Trauma Center ranked first in 19 countries including South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico, and Chile, and showed a strong presence by ranking 9th in the United States, which has the largest number of Netflix subscribers. Joo Ji-hoon also delivered a passionate performance in Disney+’s The Lighting Shop at the end of last year and is a key figure in Kingdom, which established Netflix Korea, further raising investor expectations.

Chun Woo-hee also stood out in the global OTT market last year by showcasing a wide acting spectrum in the Netflix series The Eight Show and Not a Hero, But. In The Eight Show, she deeply portrayed a character caught in an extreme survival game, heightening tension, and in Not a Hero, But, she maximized immersion with realistic emotional acting. Both works entered Netflix’s global TOP 10 and were successful hits, especially The Eight Show, which quickly ranked high after release, proving the strength of K-content. Chun Woo-hee is currently filming My Youth (working title) with Song Joong-ki.

Moreover, Woo Do-hwan is expanding his presence in the global market by starting filming for season 2 of Netflix’s representative action series Hounds. Hounds, which premiered in 2023, entered Netflix’s global TOP 10 immediately after release and topped the charts in several countries including South Korea, achieving commercial success.

Since season 1 was praised for its well-structured story and thrilling action, expectations for season 2 are high. Woo Do-hwan enhanced the immersion of the drama with delicate and emotional acting different from his usual intense action roles through last year’s Netflix series Mr. Plankton, demonstrating broad potential in the global OTT market.

A Blitzway Studio official stated, “As the influence of Korean content continues to expand in the global OTT market, Blitzway Studio is solidifying its position with its affiliated actors consistently achieving results both domestically and internationally. The upcoming works of our actors are also expected to have strong competitiveness in overseas markets, and based on this, Blitzway Studio plans to expand partnerships and collaboration opportunities in the global content market beyond simple actor management.”
