Message Delivered Through Royal Foundation Early Years Centre Report

On the 2nd (local time), Catherine, Princess of Wales, who has returned to official activities in a limited capacity after cancer treatment, announced the launch of a project emphasizing the importance of early childhood development along with an official message to create a healthy and happy society.

According to foreign media reports including the UK's BBC and AFP on the day, the Princess of Wales stated in the foreword of a report released by the Royal Foundation Early Years Centre, "Sometimes the world is filled with distrust and misunderstanding, causing many people to feel isolated and vulnerable," adding, "The resulting deterioration in mental health, addiction, and abuse can be destructive to both individuals and society." She then announced the start of a project related to the importance of early childhood development.

The Princess of Wales described this project as "a lifelong endeavor," emphasizing, "At the heart of everything is the need to develop a set of social and emotional skills. To create a healthier society, we must act with compassion and empathy towards one another."

The Royal Foundation Early Years Centre was established by Princess Catherine in 2021. The center was created to raise awareness about the importance of the first five years after a child is born. Foreign media reported that the early childhood project announced by the Princess through the report is scheduled to begin this week.

The Princess announced in March, two months after undergoing abdominal surgery in January last year, that she had been diagnosed with cancer. In September of the same year, she announced the end of chemotherapy, stating, "The journey to a cure is long." On the 14th of last month, she personally revealed that her current condition is in "remission," meaning the signs and symptoms of cancer have lessened or disappeared. After visiting the hospital where she was treated, she posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "I am now relieved to be in remission and continue to focus on recovery." She added, "Anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis knows it takes time to adjust to the new situation, but I look forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to."

Local media reported that on the day, the Princess visited the Royal Marsden Hospital, a cancer specialist hospital in London, to express gratitude to the medical staff and encourage cancer patients. The Princess, who was treated at this hospital, co-sponsors the hospital together with her husband, Prince William.
