Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) attended the capacity-building training for personnel carrying out the Senior Customized Care Service, held from 2:30 PM on the 31st at the seminar room on the 6th floor of Mapo Central Library.
The Senior Customized Care Service was implemented by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in January 2020 by integrating and reorganizing six existing elderly care projects. It aims to provide care services to vulnerable seniors who have difficulty maintaining daily life, ensuring a stable old age, maintaining seniors' functions and health, and preventing deterioration.
The target recipients of the Senior Customized Care Service are basic livelihood security recipients aged 65 and over, and those in the lower-income bracket.
To apply for the service, the individual, their relatives, stakeholders, or the executing agency must bring an ID card and visit the administrative welfare center at the address registered on their resident registration.
The service includes ▲ safety support (visits, phone calls, etc.) ▲ social participation support (cultural activities or self-help groups, etc.) ▲ life education ▲ daily life support, among others. Detailed information can be found on the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s website.
This seminar was planned to improve the work performance of personnel carrying out the Senior Customized Care Service through capacity-building training and to enable effective job execution.
Hosted by the Mapo Senior Welfare Center, the seminar was attended by 143 personnel involved in the Senior Customized Care Service (10 dedicated social workers and 133 life support workers), including Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu.
Professor Soon Deok-gi from Korea Open Cyber University lectured on professional ethics and capacity building for the personnel, and Professor Choi Eun-mi gave a lecture on stress management techniques.
Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu said, “Our seniors are like family members in Mapo-gu, and I ask that they be cared for with the same devotion as parents. The mental health of care service personnel is also important.” He added, “Mapo-gu will take the lead in practicing social filial piety through programs such as the Filial Piety Meal Service, Filial Piety Lodging Senior Centers, and Filial Piety School.”
