31 Patients Transported in January Alone
Mokpo Coast Guard (Chief Kwon Oseong) worked tirelessly to transport emergency patients from island regions during the Lunar New Year holiday.
According to Mokpo Coast Guard on the 31st, starting with patient A (female, in her 70s) suffering from abdominal pain on Gwanmaedo, Jindo-gun at 9:14 a.m. on the 26th, a total of six emergency patients were transported to the mainland during the holiday period.

On the 28th, at 6:43 a.m., a report was received from Jodo, Jindo-gun about patient B (female, in her 40s) complaining of severe abdominal pain. Rescue forces were immediately dispatched and the patient was urgently transported.
On the 29th, a patient (female, in her 50s) with a scalp laceration was transported from Hauido, Shinan-gun at 3:24 p.m., and from Jodo, Jindo-gun, a patient (in their 50s) unable to move at 7:31 p.m. and a suspected myocardial infarction patient (in their 60s) at 10:54 p.m. were each transported, resulting in three island village patients being swiftly transferred in a single day.
Additionally, at 8:14 a.m. on the 30th, a report was received from Jodo, Jindo-gun that patient C (female, in her 70s) was unable to move due to a fall. She was transported to the mainland using a coastal rescue boat and safely handed over to the 119 emergency team.
Notably, from the 27th to the 29th during the Lunar New Year holiday, a high seas warning was in effect for the southern part of the West Sea, but Mokpo Coast Guard safely transported emergency patients despite the adverse weather conditions.
The six patients transported to the mainland with the help of the Coast Guard were reportedly transferred to large hospitals in Mokpo and Jindo for further treatment.
A Mokpo Coast Guard official stated, "Last year, 377 emergency patients were transported using patrol vessels and helicopters, and 31 patients have been transported in January alone this year."
