Suwon Nambu Fire Station, Joint Housing Unit Inspection Visit Consulting... Legal Revision at the End of Last Year

The Suwon Nambu Fire Station in Gyeonggi Province will conduct on-site consulting visits for apartment unit inspections.

On the 31st, Suwon Nambu Fire Station announced that it will carry out visiting consultations to raise awareness of voluntary safety management among stakeholders following the recent establishment of a unit inspection system for fire safety facilities in apartment complexes.

Previously, in December of last year, the Fire Services Act was amended to require stakeholders of residential buildings with five or more floors, such as apartments, to complete unit inspections of fire safety facilities within the legal deadline.

Unit inspections in apartment complexes are conducted by management companies, managers, or residents. When residents perform the inspection themselves, they must complete an exterior inspection checklist of fire safety facilities and submit it to the management office. Failure to complete the unit inspection within the compliance period may result in a fine of up to 3 million KRW.

Go Young-ju, Chief of Suwon Nambu Fire Station, explained, "This visiting consultation is conducted to enhance stakeholders' awareness of voluntary safety management following the implementation of unit inspections in apartment complexes and to prevent disadvantages to stakeholders who fail to complete the inspections within the deadline."
