Kim Woong: "Yoon Acts Like a Martyr Himself... Like a Water Ghost Trying to Ruin Conservatism"

"Yoon's Lunar New Year Message Appears Aimed at Rallying His Support Base"

Former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Woong criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol's Lunar New Year message from prison, saying he is "acting as if he is a martyr."

On the 30th, Kim said on CBS Radio's 'Park Jae-hong's One-on-One Match,' "(President Yoon) is ultimately giving himself legitimacy by saying that what he did was for the country to take the right path," adding, "He is sending such messages so that those who psychologically reject impeachment and the president being detained can unite in a way."

On the 28th, President Yoon, through lawyer Seok Dong-hyun, said, "I am worried about the country's future and also about many people among the citizens who find it difficult to get through each day, worrying about how hard the cold and livelihood must be," and added, "I am even more worried that young people and future generations who need to nurture their dreams might be discouraged by reality."

In response, former lawmaker Kim pointed out that it was a message driven by a self-defense mechanism. He said, "If someone who worries so much about the youth behaves like that toward Colonel Park Jeong-hoon, who tried to reveal the truth when Chae Sang-byeong became an unexpected victim, is that right?" and "If someone says they care about the country, did they try to relocate the bust of General Hong Beom-do, who fought and sacrificed his life for the country?"

He then added, "I can only think that he is a drowning person trying to drag the entire conservative camp down with him until the very end."

Regarding President Yoon's remark that "there can be no rebellion because there was no bloodshed," Kim rebutted, saying, "The crime of rebellion is to incite a riot with the purpose of excluding state power or disturbing the constitutional order, and it does not require bloodshed to be established."

He continued, "Disturbing the constitutional order means 'destroying the function of the constitution or laws without following the constitution and laws, or forcibly overthrowing or making it impossible for state institutions established by the constitution to exercise their authority,' and that is exactly rebellion," adding, "If bloodshed occurred there, that would be an additional crime."
