'Special Investigation Law on Treason Needed' and 'Agreement with Yoon's Treason Charges' Prevail
'Constitutional Amendment Needed, but Should Take Time' at 51%
74% Support South Korea's Nuclear Armament if North Korea Possesses Nuclear Weapons
During the Lunar New Year holiday period, public opinion polls conducted by the three major terrestrial broadcasters showed that support for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol outpaced opinions favoring dismissal or rejection. Additionally, there was strong support for the introduction of the 'Special Investigation Law on Treason' led by the opposition party, and a high proportion agreed with the charges of treason against President Yoon.

According to public opinion polls released on the 30th by KBS, MBC, and SBS, the number of respondents supporting the acceptance of President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment was higher than those supporting its dismissal.
All three broadcasters' polls show 'Support for Yoon's impeachment acceptance' leading beyond the margin of error
KBS's survey conducted from the 24th to the 26th showed that 60% supported 'impeachment acceptance,' while 36% chose 'impeachment dismissal,' showing a 24 percentage point difference.
MBC's survey conducted on the 27th and 28th showed 58% supporting 'impeachment acceptance' and 39% supporting 'impeachment dismissal,' with a 19 percentage point difference. SBS's survey conducted from the 23rd to the 25th showed 59% supporting 'impeachment acceptance' and 37% supporting 'dismissal,' recording a 22 percentage point difference. In all broadcasters' surveys, the proportion supporting impeachment acceptance led the dismissal opinion beyond the margin of error.
Opinions on the introduction of a special investigation related to President Yoon's treason charges also received positive responses from the public. In MBC's survey, 53% responded in favor of introducing the 'Special Investigation Law on Treason,' while 44% opposed it.
The North Korean Missile General Bureau conducted a test launch of a sea (underwater) to land strategic cruise guided missile on the 25th, and Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, observed the test. In SBS's survey, 60% responded in favor of introducing a special investigation regarding President Yoon's treason charges, while 34% opposed it. Additionally, 56% in the SBS survey believed that President Yoon's actions before and after the declaration of emergency martial law constituted treason, while 38% believed they did not. Regarding opinions on constitutional amendment, 51% responded that it is 'necessary but sufficient time should be taken,' 20% said it should be 'pursued promptly,' and 24% said 'constitutional amendment is not necessary.'
KBS surveyed whether South Korea should possess nuclear weapons if North Korea's nuclear possession is recognized by the international community. As a result, 74% responded 'in favor,' while 20% opposed.
This survey was conducted by KBS through Korea Research from the 24th to the 26th, MBC commissioned Korea Research International for the 27th to 28th, and SBS commissioned Ipsos for the 23rd to 25th.
