The Local Community Job Project is a program that supports public jobs by utilizing local resources, aimed at employment and livelihood stabilization for vulnerable groups.
The projects operated in the first half of this year include four fields: ▲Middle-aged Support Supporters (1 person) ▲Pedestrian Safety Management Project (2 people) ▲Supporters for Activating Waste Vinyl Separation and Disposal (4 people) ▲Village Decoration and Leisure Facility Management in Parks (9 people), recruiting a total of 16 people.
The newly established ‘Middle-aged Support Supporters’ assist the middle-aged generation using the Yangcheon 50 Plus Center in planning their second act of life and support program operations. The ‘Pedestrian Safety Management Project’ is responsible for cracking down on and maintaining illegal floating advertisements such as banners and flyers that threaten pedestrian safety on the streets.
The ‘Supporters for Activating Waste Vinyl Separation and Disposal’ patrol local stores and markets to guide proper waste disposal methods for creating a pleasant living environment. The ‘Village Decoration and Leisure Facility Management in Parks’ maintains the environment of local parks and creates eco-friendly forest paths and flower paths using idle spaces, bringing healing and vitality to the daily lives of residents.
Applicants must be residents of Yangcheon-gu aged 18 or older with work ability as of the project start date (March 3), have an income below 70% of the median income, and household assets must be 499 million KRW or less.
The work period is four months from March 3 to June, working 6 hours a day (3 hours a day for those aged 65 or older), 5 days a week. Those who wish to participate can apply by visiting their local community service center by the 5th of next month.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “I hope the Local Community Job Project will help the livelihoods of residents who are experiencing economic difficulties due to the employment cold wave, even if only a little,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to actively utilize local resources to lead the revitalization of the local community and create quality jobs.”
