White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated at an official briefing that the "February 1 tariff imposition plan" on China and others, which President Trump declared shortly after taking office, is "still on the books" as a scheduled policy announcement.

Levitt added, "The February 1 date regarding tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China is something he has been discussing."

On his inauguration day, the 20th, President Trump mentioned that he expects to impose a 25% tariff on Mexico and Canada "on February 1." Then, at a White House press conference on the 21st, he said, "We are discussing imposing a 10% tariff on China," with the timing "probably February 1."

Regarding a question about the low-cost AI model released by the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek, Levitt said, "U.S. authorities are reviewing the national security implications."

On the controversy surrounding President Trump's recent dismissal of 17 government inspectors from the State Department, Department of Defense, and others, Levitt asserted, "The President has the authority to fire anyone in the administration if he wishes."
